JOHN ALTENBURGH, owner of Altenburgh Records, has been one of the rising stars of jazz since his first recording "(Old City)" was released in 1990. With that release came the birth of John Altenburgh, recording artist, and Altenburgh Records, which now boasts recordings by Mike Metheny, Rebecca Parris, John Greiner and numerous others. Altenburgh followed in 1992 with "Vol II", quickly securing him among the nation's top newcomers in jazz. The Milwaukee Sentinel called it "Strongly melodic and ingratiating." "Wisconsin's Mr. Jazz Ambitions continues his rangy output...It's great!" The Green Bay Press Gazette. National recognition was at hand and in 1993 Altenburgh, with his third album entitled "Generations" quickly landed in the US jazz charts and received favorable reviews from Billboard Magazine, Cadance, BRE, Strictly Jazz, and others. This trend has continued with each subsequent release. You can bet John Altenburgh is sure to keep his finger on the pulse of the national jazz and blues scene. |
